Roanoke Star Cycling is honored to announce that we have been selected as a recipient of a Project Outside grant from the Roanoke Outside Foundation.
Launched in 2020, Project Outside is a community fund designed to support outdoor capital improvement projects, maintain key regional outdoor assets, and help strengthen programs and organizations that contribute to outdoor recreation in the Roanoke region. Since its creation, the initiative has helped fund dozens of projects that improve trails, river access, infrastructure, and access to outdoor experiences.
Funding through Project Outside helps fill critical gaps in maintenance and development efforts while ensuring that the region’s parks, trails, and outdoor spaces remain welcoming and accessible for residents and visitors alike.
This grant will support Roanoke Star Cycling’s ongoing work to expand youth mountain biking opportunities, develop trail stewardship skills, and build a strong culture of respect for shared outdoor spaces. Through structured practices, mentorship, and community engagement, the program helps young athletes grow not only as riders but as ambassadors for the outdoors.
We are grateful to Roanoke Outside and the many partners and supporters who continue to invest in the strength of our outdoor community. Together, we are helping ensure that the Roanoke region remains an incredible place to live, ride, and explore.
While grants like Project Outside provide important support, the continued growth and accessibility of Roanoke Star Cycling depends on the generosity of our community. Donations help fund athlete scholarships, equipment needs, coaching development, and trail stewardship initiatives that benefit both riders and the broader outdoor community.
If you are passionate about helping young people build confidence, develop healthy habits, and form lifelong connections to the outdoors, we invite you to consider making a contribution to support our nonprofit mission. Every gift — large or small — helps create more opportunities for youth to get outside and ride.
