We want to recruit more girls to join the team and we've got two events to help get more girls mountain biking!
Event #1
In the morning (10 am - 12:30 pm), RSC is inviting girls K-4th grade to join for a beginner friendly bike day. We'll play some games, make some crafts, and enjoy a short mountain bike ride on easy terrain. We'll end with a pizza party lunch! Bring your bike, helmet, and water bottle.
Event #2
In the afternoon (1-4 pm), we partnering with several Virginia mountain area teams and inviting 5th - 12th grade girls to join us for this welcoming, beginner-friendly event. This event is supported by NICA's Girls Ride Together program and designed to introduce girls to mountain biking in a fun and supportive environment. No experience needed. Just bring a bike, a helmet, and a willingness to try something new. You’ll meet our team, ride with supportive coaches and student-athletes, learn a few foundational skills, and experience what the NICA community is all about.
These events are about curiosity, connection, and giving something new a try. Please share with your sisters, cousins & family friends! The events are free but registration is required so we have enough coaches.
We'll be at the Red Barn at the end of Carvins Cove Road. Please bring the following:
a bicycle
a helmet
water & snacks
wear comfortable athletic clothing
Research consistently shows that girls are most likely to try a new sport when they feel welcomed, emotionally safe, and like they belong. Confidence grows through connection and skills grow through confidence.
GRiT Give It a Go events are designed to create exactly that kind of environment – a place where girls can try mountain biking without pressure, meet other riders, and discover that this sport is for them.
There's no cost, we just need to know how many people to plan for.
