The first race of the DHSE Series for 2025. It arrived early in the season, before official RSC practices began. All of the riders participating worked through the winter to be ready for this first race. The race course was short and fast, so all top finishers had to have near perfect runs. All of our RSC racers demonstrated grit and commitment for a very successful early season race weekend.
Pro Women: 6 racers
Juli Black 3rd, only 3 seconds from first place, won Cat 1 U18 Women last year
Lucinda Cherbaka 6th, quite new at DH and only raced in two downhill races last season
Cat 1 U18 Women: 5 racers
Rachel Reynolds 4th, is only in 8th grade and just started DH racing last year. This was Rachel’s first Cat 1 race. She handled the anxiety of her seeding run really well and improved on that time with her race run.
Cat 1 Men 17-18: 23 racers
Jackson Ferrell 23rd, just started racing last year and wanted to see if his skills were ready for Cat 1 and decided to challenge himself. He’s proven that he can handle the course – he had a clean run!
Cat 1 Men 19-29: 20 racers
Sorin Vladu 6th, because he tended to finish mid-pack in his Cat 1 races last year, he put more practice time in over the winter in hopes of improving a little this year. He was surprised and quite happy with his placement and race run at RRC this year.
Cat 1 Youth Boys 0-16: 24 racers
Henry Owens 4th, less than ONE SECOND separates the top 4 boys!!!!! Very clean run.
Charlie Black 14th, had a good seeding run but ended up going through the tape and got off-course during his race run. Good placement considering.
Rowan Clark DNF, had a pretty bad crash – video is making the rounds. He’s disappointed, but in true Rowan style, was smiling within the hour and is ready for the next race.
Cat 2 Youth Boys 15-16: 40 racers
Pauly Ingrassia 16th, every year he continues to climb up the ranks!
Judah Buehrer 28th, first DH race (that I’m aware of), brand new to the team
Aiden Curfiss 30th, started as a Cat 3 last year where he finished 5th overall, and moved up to Cat 2 this year into the largest category.
Brody Higuera 36th, first DH race (that I’m aware of), brand new to the team, had a really bad crash and still got back on the bike to finish.
Past Team members and friends:
Pro Men: 38 racers
McClure Bailey 10th, used to ride for RSC and we still support him
Pro Women: 6 racers
Madison Lee 5th. 2nd through 5th place finishes in this category were within 1 second, so Madison was right on Juli’s wheel. Madison has raced several DH seasons and is a very poised, very competent racer. She lives in Blacksburg and often rides with Lucinda and Juli at Snowshoe, so she is part of our RSC Gravity family.
Cat 1 Men 17-18: 23 racers
Jack Lenderking 4th, just 3 seconds away from first, he’s not with RSC this season, but he’s been a part of our team since he was nine years old, so we will continue to cheer him on.
Cat 2 Men 19-29: 25 racers
Camden Woodard 10th, he’s an alumni of RVD Gravity; competed in single-crown last year and then changed his fork to double-crown this year, had a small crash in this race but was racing very strong at the end and managed to break top ten.
